Pioneer Foods do the ‘Rutland Plod’ in aid of Action Medical

At midnight on the 4th July, staff from our UK headquarters, aka the ‘Pioneer Foods plodders,’ will take on the gruelling challenge of walking 40 miles through the rolling countryside of Rutland. ‘The Plod’ is in aid of Action Medical Research, a charity that is offering hope to many thousands of families who are dealing with the trauma of a baby born too early, striving to support a child affected by disability, or facing the challenge of caring for a child with a rare and devastating disease.

Stepping up to the challenge is; Jessica Feather, Andy King, Karin Stephens, Tracey Mcloone, Tracey Blades, Dave Young, Neil Hackney and Steve Elliot. Armed with their head torches and maps, the team will be tasked with negotiating treacherous trails through the darkness in order to be the first team to return home.

“We have been working hard, already clocking over 100 miles in training, and completing walks in the peak district, Oundle, and the 26 mile Weandel walk. Our CEO, John Hiles, has been providing incentives along the way, tempting us with cups of tea, scrummy breakfasts and lots of ice cream!,” Jessica Feather, Group Technical Manager at Pioneer Foods.

We are delighted to be raising money for a truly inspirational charity. Right now the best medical minds in children’s hospitals and universities across the UK are waiting for the green light to start research that could lead to life-changing treatments for babies and children. They just need the funding.

So, please help the Pioneer Foods Plodders reach their target of £3000 by donating at www.action.org.uk/sponsor/bokomofoods, and continue to follow them on their training ‘highs and lows’ as they build up to this mammoth event by visiting the ‘Pioneer Foods Plodders’ Facebook page.
